Dating Direct - Ease Of Use
DatingDirect is a very simple and self explanitory site to use, the menu system is straight forward.
Nothing very complicated at all, even the advanced search is well laid out and easy to use.
All pages load in a very reasonable time even when performing a generic search that returns many results.
Dating Direct Signup Procedure
The sign up process can be quick and short but tries to take you though a lengthy information gathering form spanning around ten pages of questions.
It is important you answer these questions, as it helps in DatingDirects backend system matching you with another profile. Though you don’t have to do it straight away, you can skip out of the form and go to see who is online now, though the site doesn’t make this obvious.
Once signed up though and you have a look at the advanced search form you can see how important filling in that information can be, you won’t appear in searches that specify one of the questions if you haven’t filled it in.
Dating Direct aims to approve all profiles all within 24 hours, though ours was approved inside 2 hours.
Dating Direct Photo Information
Dating Direct requires that all photo's are approved, usually within 48 hours.
You can add a maximum of 5 photos as Primary Photos, viewable in your profile.
However you can upload more photos to your personal photo album, no information could be found on limits to this service.
You may add photos via MMS using your mobile; you will need to create a code within your account that needs to be added to the message
Photos in your Personal Album also need to be approved before they become visible

It's completely free to register for DatingDirects service, set up a profile, view up to 5 other members' profiles per day and use our basic search features.

Dating Direct Search Tools
DatingDirect has two main search settings you can use
Quick Search, where you can search for ages between 2 that you enter and location, and have them filtered by whether or not they have a photo
The Advanced search is very comprehensive, allowing multiple filters; you can filter your search by anything from whether they have or want children all the way through to their habits or what colour their eyes are.
The Advanced search though being comprehensive is also very simple, powered mostly by dropdown lists and tick boxes, you may choose as many filters or as few as you like.
Dating Direct Messaging System
You may use the normal "email type" massaging system on DatingDirect to contact potential matches or their Messenger system that allows either live text chat or video chat.
Messenger is an instant messaging tool that lets you have private one-to-one conversations with other members in real time - just like a phone call, but in text.
Video Chat using Messenger
You can only video chat with members who are listed as your contacts - that is, you've accepted their contact invitation or they've accepted yours.
For each profile in your contacts, you can see whether the person has switched on their webcam. When the webcam is active, the icon turns green.
When using Video chat, you will loose any text chats currently in session.
You may record Video Chats but the other person needs to agree to you doing so before the functionality is activated.
There are moderators online, and each participant has an "Alert Moderator" button to report abuse.
Extras offered by Dating Direct
A premier pass holder can make themselves appear to be off line, this will mean other users will not be able to see you, and will not be notified that you have looked at their profile.
Absence Manager: If you will be away from the site for a while ie. going on holidy, enter the date of your return, and all emails recieved up until that date will be auto answered with an away message giving them your return date.
DatingDirect provide a Blacklist function where you can add other users to your black list and they can no longer see anything about you or contact you through the site.
Mobile DatingDirect* allows you to keep in touch with your account through your mobile phone you may perform searches or chat whilst on the move.

Removing Profile/Photos from Dating Direct
How do I delete a primary photo?
Go to the My Profile page and click the My Photos tab.
To delete one of your Primary Photos, click on 'Manage my Primary Photos' and on the Delete button next to the photo you want to ditch.
How do I delete my personal ad?
Your personal ad needs to be approved by our moderators before you can delete it.
Once your original ad has been approved, you can delete it from the My Profile page by resubmitting a blank personal ad.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Information concerning the date of your next payment due is accessible from your 'My account ' page, under the 'My subscription' tab.
You can cancel this automatic renewal online up to 24 hours before the subscription renewal date.
To do so, go to the 'My account ' page, then the 'My subscription' tab.
Select 'To manage your subscription, click here to upgrade or cancel', then follow the instructions given.
For greater simplicity, you can now also cancel your automatic renewal by telephone. Dating Direct's payments team is available on 0 800 358 0846* from 8am to 10pm, Mondays to Sundays.
How do I delete my profile?
You can remove your profile from the website and have it permanently deleted in just a few steps. First go to your ‘My account’ page, which can be reached via the link displayed in the menu bar at the top of any page when you are logged into DatingDirect.com.
Under your ‘My personal info’ tab, there is a link at the bottom of the page that says ‘to delete your account, click here!’
You will be required to enter your username and password and to confirm your wish to delete your profile.
Once confirmed, you will immediately lose access to your account and you will be redirected to the login page. Your account, and all the information associated with it, will be permanently deleted within 24 hours. This means you will no longer have access to any stored messages, lists, profiles or any other information stored on your account. Your deleted account cannot be reopened, and the data cannot be retrieved at a later date.

This has obviously been a good move for DatingDirect the vast improvements we have seen Dating Direct go through lately means we have to say DatingDirect is probably the best UK dating site online.
What we found on Dating Direct
Approval was quick and effective, we first signed up with an abigouse profile,this was refused.
We didnt give any contact information so an automated system would have missed it. we then submited a better profile and this was accepted, all in under 24 hours.
We found that profiles where clear and easy to read, enough with photos that you will never have to worry about those without. Most had multiple photos.
Our Comments
A well constructed and thought out site. Easy to navigate and work your way around. The amount of members should mean it wont be hard to find someone, whether they are local to you or not is anyones guess
Overall we found this site to be among the best sites in the UK with its ease of use and quality of the site overall. Good value for money.
** Note to DatingDirect: A second figure giving the online member count in their specifc country would be a vast improvment, this is the only significant fault we could find with the site.**
