Huge amount of active members online at the time we looked but the fact these are spread over 96 Countries begs the question of how many are in the UK.

Approval was quick and effective, we first signed up with an abigouse profile,this was refused.

We didnt give any contact information so an automated system would have missed it. we then submited a better profile and this was accepted, all in under 24 hours.

We found that profiles where clear and easy to read, enough with photos that you will never have to worry about those without. Most had multiple photos.

This is a good site and we would recommend it, the idea of giving women free dating is a good one, all dating sites struggle to keep the ratio of men and women equal, Girls Date For Free has cracked that problem.

One thing we do not like about Girls Date For Free is the pop under adverts, there isn’t even a check to see if you have already had it displayed, we ended up with 15 windows open all trying to sell us a bingo subscription. I am afraid this has cost them a chunk of their review rating.

Getting rid of the pop unders or at least limiting those to one per day would greatly improve Girls Date For Free's rating.

We found this to be a really surprising site, at first glance it looks just like all others when you get in it though and have a look around it is packed full of features, with the cream of the crop being the Messenger app. after seeing this we can’t figure out why more sites are not doing it.

The price is reasonable but only allows up to a 6 month membership at a time, though with the amount of members active on the site this should be more than enough.

Match.com is and I suspect always will be simple to use. Match has resisted the current trend to complicate their site, they haven’t introduced live chat or video to their site and we think it’s a better site because of it, or should we say because of the lack of it.

The site is more relaxed, and the women are not getting pestered to go to video right after the first email.

Almost everyone has MSN or Yahoo messenger these days and if you don’t trust the other person enough to give them your MSN username so they can add you to their list, you shouldn’t be thinking about Video conversations anyway.

All in all well worth the money, we wouldn’t hesitate recommending this site to anyone.

We found this a very nice site, and have talked to the owner whilst reviewing the site, we found him to be very amenable and accessible, this goes a very long way in our opinion to creating a site members are going to feel comfortable with.

This site itself is a cross between a social networking site and a dating site; the way it’s put together works very well, and seems to ease the atmosphere. Not everyone on the site is looking for a date, there are just as many looking for friendship, or people looking to share interests like hobbies.

This is a good site and we would recommend it. A dating site for single parents is a great idea, there are loads of small dating sites set up by lone parent/single parent community websites but these tend to be very small using poor ready built dating scripts, nice to see a major online dating company providing a dating site for the one parent family niche.

It would be great to see Allegran (Allegran Limited the company behind, Dating For Parents, Girls Date For Free and Loopy Love.) do the same with Dating For Parents as they have done with Girls Date For Free, and make the site free for Single Parents, but that is probably asking for too much.

eHarmony UK is Different. After testing eHarmony using a full membership making sure that we contacted every match sent to us by eHarmony we came to the conclusion that though this model may work, eHarmony needs to do a little in house cleaning first.

From the 50 Matches sent by eHarmony, our profile was viewed by 6 members. With the way eHarmony reports and shows matches to each other, you have to view a profile in order to see details and a picture of that person.

We therefore assume that more than 80% of the matches sent by eHarmony were in active profiles. As eHarmony does not show recent activity on the profiles it is impossible to know when they last logged in, if indeed they ever have.

We filled in the profile and their psychometric test completely and truthfully, using our trained Guiney pig here at the office. The reports returned by eHarmony described a different person altogether, the personality traits they said our Guiney pig had and the sort of person he is, couldn’t have been more wrong (well it could, they could have said he was a woman).

We cannot with any morality recommend you use eHarmony; they say the site is designed to only match you with people you have a chance at something special with. What they don’t take into account is, most people when they start using dating site do so because they are feeling vary dejected, and probably a bit down, the way eHarmony works will make people feeling like this feel much worse

We strongly recommend you do not spend your money on eHarmony, unless you have plenty, and don’t mind throwing it away.

Whilst the sign-up seems very comprehensive, this will filter out those who are not on the site with the best intentions. Makes you really think about yourself especially when writing the description (200 characters seems a lot!)

I am afraid we didn’t like this site at all, the big turn off for us was adding in the help pages that you shouldn't give your contact details out in your audio profile unless you are comfortable doing so.

This is obviously designed to let everyone know contact details may be found in audio profiles and they reap in the £1.50 per minute from the standard members trying to get the contact details.

This is putting their members at risk for a quick buck. Most dating sites protect their members contact details, and do not allow contact details to be advertised by their users under any circumstances.

Yes this has a primary function of encouraging the user to sign up and take out a full membership in order to contact other users.

But a more important side affect is the dating site has control of the contact, your details are not given out, You can still give out your details once contact has been made, but then you know who is getting them, in an audio message or in your profile, everybody has access to them.

Everything else we found pals into insignificance along side this, The users safety is our primary concern and if we find anything that jeopardises this, we will make sure we report it.

We found this site very confusing, some functions are not available from all pages, so to use it you need to also remember where it is located.

Saying that this site has a lot going for it, once you have learnt your way around this site, and can navigate with confidence, you can get a lot out of it, there is a lot for an unpaid member to do, they can interact with paid members, though the class system introduced by displaying a members level means that few will give a standard member the time of day.

To get the fill benefit from FriendFinder you really do need to become a paid member, it very frustrating, for unpaid members knowing they can speak to other members in the chat room, and be ignored because they can see you only have a standard membership.

With Gold membership this site is amazing, but remember even if you pay for Gold membership, other members can exclude you from search results if you don’t verify your identity.

This is much more than just a dating site, there is a huge established community using this site, this site could be all you ever need, well worth having a look, we would recommend it.

What we think:

This is a great site, offering our brave Armed Forces a great way to meet somebody meaningful, without the awkwardness of explaining they may be away for months at a time.

The nature of the site means anyone they meet is already aware of this, this will make concentrating on developing a relationship that much simpler.

The snail mail contact list is a great addition, when your away from home like our armed forces are, receiving a physical letter written on actual paper, can be the highlight of the day, and is always something to look forward to.

If you are attracted to the soldier type, this is a site right up your street. the site also accepts civilians, so even if you’re not the sort to fall for a soldier, you can still find the love of your life here, and as dating sites go this is relatively inexpensive.

At first glance the site is very untidy, this could put many people off, the very basic functions as well would tend to drive users away if this was a pay to contact site, but it isnt, Smooch is a free to contact site.

The recent TV advertising should give this site credability that other free sites lack and should give it a large amount of active users, We think they should have spent some of their advertising budget on improving the quality of the site, this would have ensured their future in the online dating industry.

For now you get what you pay for, not the best quality site out there, but it is free if you do not use the optional extras (these are not needed and do not add much to the dating experiance if anything, we would recomend you save your cash and treat your date)

Over all there is nothing to make this site stand out from other dating sits, there are many that are much better, but the fact that this site is free and TV advertising has given it a high profile, we have to recommend that you give this site a chance, there will be many people checking this site out, and the chances of you connecting with someone are very good.

The Birthday list seems like a cool idea to be able to break the ice when making initial contact.

The verification of members entitlement to free membership is also a great idea.
We like the idea of a site dedicated to members of the community who may find meeting people difficult due to mental or physical disadvantages. That, plus the fact that prices have been kept low make this a winning site.

The site was simple to use, and had a handy link on the home page to members recently on line, we found the search comprehensive and only lacked a search for who is currently on line.
