Force Pen Pals - Ease Of Use
Extremely easy site to use. The main category heading run across the top of the page, when you click on one of these the resulting page will have an additional menu bar running across the top of the centre panel giving any sub categories.
The category headings are named using armed forces terms ie. what we would normally know as messaging is called Comms, search or browsing is under intelligence and help pages can be found under the briefing tab.
This re-naming of accepted terms seems a bit pointless but does add to the atmosphere of the site, and it isn’t hard to work out what each heading relates to..
Force Pen Pals Signup Procedure
Sign up process is short and sweet, just enter gender, location, birthday, your preferred username and your email address.
You will then be sent an email containing you password, once you log in you will be asked whether you are a civilian or a member of the armed forces.
Once you have answered that you are ready to go, you may fill in your profile at your own leisure, though don’t expect contacts to come flying in (even from the RAF) until you have completed your profile.
Force Pen Pals Photo Information
Upload of photos is just as easy as everything else on this site, you simply use the browse button to browse to the location of your photo on your system select the image you want, check the box to make it the main photo and click upload.
You can upload up to 3 photos.
Force Pen Pals Member Levels
There are 3 levels of membership, standard members, this is the free sign up level, this allows you to browse the site, see if you like it or not, check out the profiles on the site, see if there is any one you fancy, and to send flirts.
Fully paid membership, this gives you full access to the site allowing you to send and receive messages and access the chat room, you may also sign up to the snail mail contact list and receive real letters through the post.
Armed Forces, membership of Force Pen pals is free to members of the armed forces, when you are asked whether you are civilian or armed forces just follow the onscreen instructions and you will receive full access free of charge.
Force Pen Pals Search Tools
Search tools are very basic, there are preset searches for things like newest members and who is on line.
Apart from the above you only have a basic search, searching by distance from post code and a name search if you know who you are looking for.
We found you can simulate an advanced search by going to you profile and changing the details of your perfect match, the default listings displayed when clicking on Intelligence then changes to match your ideal match.
Force Pen Pals Messaging System
Force Pen pals has the normal email messaging system. As well as having a communal chartroom, they also have a forum both of these needs a subscription to access.
On top of that they also offer a proper pen pals list, you will be emailed a list of subscribers postal address details allowing you to communicate by snail mail, this list is in addition to their online activities, and you need to sign up to this separately (this does not cost extra, it is included in your site subscription) the reason for having the separate sign up is to ensure the user actually wants their details to be handed out on the list)

Removing Profile/Photos from Force Pen Pals
Can I Hide My Profile?
Yes, you can remove your profile from the website by navigating to 'My profile' > preferences page and untick the box marked 'my profile is visible'.
How Do I Cancel My Subscription?
Visit the subs management page and you can cancel your payments from there. Important note: When you cancel your subscription your profile will still remain active. For help on removing your profile, see 'Can I remove my profile from the website?’

The snail mail contact list is a great addition, when your away from home like our armed forces are, receiving a physical letter written on actual paper, can be the highlight of the day, and is always something to look forward to.
