What Friends Reunited Dating Say About Themselves
Nearly 50% of the adult internet population are members of Friends Reunited, and with the single population growing rapidly each year we are confident in saying that many of our Friends members are looking for a long term partner as well as new friends.
Friends Reunited Dating hopes to help them achieve this, as the dating site is about meeting NEW friends as a potential partner and not about pairing up with an old school friend.
Friends Reunited Dating - Ease Of Use
Not an easy site to use if you are used to others as Friends Reunited Dating seem to have gone about things in their own way. The site doesn’t seem to be designed to be a dating site, more like it has been designed to fit with an existing database.
Though this would normally be a sign of a poor site in this case it is the opposite. This obviously has been designed to integrate with the Friends Reunited site, bringing with it the weight the parent site carries.
I will go into detail about the functionality available and how easy it is to use as we get to each point in this review.
Menus across the top, including Home, Profile, Search, Mail, History, Who's online, Instant Chat and Extras, each with sub menus in dropdown boxes.
Once you get used to the layout it is fairly easy to navigate, and use. Also able to go directly to Friends Reunited and Genes Reunited.
You may notice the lack of being able to send emails, kiss or adding to favourites, You will find these by mousing over the image on the profile.
If you’re not using IE8 you can mouse over each icon to see what it does, if you are using IE8 you are out of luck, IE8 doesn’t display alt text.
(Note to Friends Reunited Dating: You can overcome this behaviour in IE8 by adding a title tag to the link in the same way you added the alt tag.)
Friends Reunited Dating Signup Procedure
Registration: Relatively easy Form; multiple choice for personal details; would probably take about 10 min's to complete fully.
You can’t skip this and fill it in later when you have had a chance to think about it, as your activation email isn’t sent until its complete.
You can however edit it later.
Activation email required so make sure you use a valid email account.
Friends Reunited Dating Photo Information
Uploading Photo, We can’t find any mention of a limit on how many photos you can upload but we know it's at least 6, and there looks like room for more.
you can make your photos private, for approved viewing only. But friends reunited seem to have made a complete hash of this function.
You cannot upload a photo and mark it as private, you have to upload it and then wait for it to be approved then once it’s on display for all to see you can make it private.
once you have made the photo private other members have to ask you to view them....
now come the really interesting bit, according to Friends Reunited Dating's "Help" pages to find out if anybody has requested to view your Photo's you need to:
"To check to see if a member has requested to view your photo, please click on ‘Profile’ then 'View Profile' then 'View all Photos'. Scroll down the page and you will see 'See who can view your private photos"
That in itself is confusing, it starts of telling you how to see who has requested to view your photos, and ends up telling you how to see who can view them, with no transition.
Friends Reunited Dating Member Levels
You cannot do much at all as a standard member, you can upload your profile, upload photos, search and view other profiles send winks and members to your hot list.
You cannot see if anyone has been looking at your profile, or if they have sent you a message wink etc. unless you are a paid up member.
This site is for committed people only. don’t sign up with a free membership and wait until someone shows an interest to pay, as you will not know they have.
Members can View all profiles send and receive winks, send emails see who has been viewing them and hide the fact they have been viewing others.
Friends Reunited Dating Search Tools
Using the basic search, you can search by gender, between ages, country, within a mileage distance of your post code.
Refine searches by, who is online now, people with photos, people looking for someone like you.
Click the more search options to open up further refinements to your search ie. do they smoke marital status etc.
If you are a fully paid member you can prepare your searches and save them to select from a dropdown list in the future.
Friends Reunited Dating Messaging System
Usual email messaging is available to fully paid members, as well as friends Messenger for live text chatting,
There is no Audio/Video chat available on Friends Reunited Dating. However you can post an audio profile that users can listen to.
Friends Reunited allow you to give contact information in your Audio Message
(Online Dating Reviews Would Strongly Advise against doing so, and will have to mark Friends Reunited down for allowing this at all, it shows little concern for the safety of their users)
Both paid members and standard members can listen to these Audio messages though the cost differs, the messages are free to post on a 0800 number.
Standard members will pay £1.50 a minute to listen to them while paid members can listen to them for 25p per minute.

What we found on Friends Reunited Dating
This is obviously designed to let everyone know contact details may be found in audio profiles and they reap in the £1.50 per minute from the standard members trying to get the contact details.
This is putting their members at risk for a quick buck. Most dating sites protect their members contact details, and do not allow contact details to be advertised by their users under any circumstances.
Yes this has a primary function of encouraging the user to sign up and take out a full membership in order to contact other users.
But a more important side affect is the dating site has control of the contact, your details are not given out, You can still give out your details once contact has been made, but then you know who is getting them, in an audio message or in your profile, everybody has access to them.
Everything else we found pals into insignificance along side this, The users safety is our primary concern and if we find anything that jeopardises this, we will make sure we report it.
